Introduction:
➤IP Ratings chart provides various IP codes used for protection of persons and protection of equipments.
➤The protection is provided by enclosures for electrical equipments.
➤First numeral indicates protection of persons against access to hazardous parts, and protection of equipment against ingress of solid foreign objects.
➤Second numeral indicates protection of equipments against harmful ingress of water.
➤It is specified in AS-1939, clause 6.

IP63

• First numeral digit '6' indicates dust tight (i.e. complete protection against entry of dust).
• Second numeral digit '3' indicates protection against sprays of water from any direction, upto 60 degrees from vertical.

IP64

• First numeral digit '6' indicates dust tight (i.e. complete protection against entry of dust).
• Second numeral digit '4' indicates protection against splash water from any direction- limited ingress permitted.

IP65

• First numeral digit '6' indicates dust tight (i.e. complete protection against entry of dust).
• Second numeral digit '5' indicates protection against low pressure water jets from any direction. Limited ingress permitted.

IP67

• First numeral digit '6' indicates dust tight (i.e. complete protection against entry of dust).
• Second numeral digit '7' indicates protection against short periods of immersion in water - between 15 cm and 1m.

IP68

• Here first numeral digit '6' indicates dust tight (i.e. complete protection against entry of dust).
• Second numeral digit '8' indicates protection against long, durable periods of immersion in water, under pressure.
